"Furious speed" could be used in this context if the speaker was trying to be a little humorous. In English, the phrase "with furious speed" is unusual, so unless we are actually talking about a serious or angry situation, it sounds a bit goofy. ^_^
There's an action/crime/violence/thriller movie titled "Fast & Furious" from 2009. In that sense, "furious" and "fast" can be associated with each other in contexts of high speed action/violence/etc.
As for storms, Americans more commonly say "terrible storm" rather than "furious storm," but both are usable. The connotation is just a little different, so sometimes people like to change up their adjectives for effect. [ :
